Kaduna varsity gets new Director, Institute of Health Sci. and Tech

The Management of Kaduna State University has approved the appointment of Dr Musa Kana as the new Director of its Institute of Health Sciences and Technology, Makarfi Campus.

The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Adamu Bargo, who made this known in a statement in Kaduna on Thursday, said that the appointment took effect from Dec. 21, 2022, to Dec. 20, 2024.

Bargo said that Kana was an Associate Professor of Perinatal Epidemiology and Public Health.

He said that the associate professor holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Jos and a  Master of Health (MPH) from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

Bargo added that Kana, with a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Porto, Portugal, also completed postdoctoral training in molecular and environmental epidemiology at the United States National Institute of Health.

“He also completed the five years Community Health/Public Health residency programme at the West African College of Physicians and National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.

“Over the last two decades, Kana held hospital and community-based clinical, teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities.

“He previously served as the Head of the Department of Community Medicine and Assistant Dean (Pre-Clinical) of the College of Medicine, KASU.

“He equally served as a Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences at the Federal University, Lafiya,” Bargo said.
