Men of the Kaduna State Police Command have busted an illegal factory engaged in the production of adulterated soya bean oil, arresting three suspects in the process.
The illegal operation, located on a fenced property along Mamadi Road in Maraban Jos, was uncovered on Monday following credible intelligence received by the State Intelligence Department (SID).
A swift tactical operation led by SP Sani Bello resulted in the arrest of the factory owner, Zailani Shuaibu, 33, alongside two others: Nasiru Usman, 24, and Salisu Usman, 49 all residents of Maraban Jos.
Items recovered from the scene included two drums of suspected raw materials, fifteen 25-litre jerry cans of unfinished oil, two 25-litre jerry cans of the finished fake product, and an empty drum used for processing the counterfeit oil.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the Command described the operation as part of its ongoing efforts to clamp down on economic sabotage and public health threats.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, psc, mni, commended the swift response of the intelligence team and assured that the suspects will be brought to justice upon conclusion of investigation,” the statement read.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The case is currently under investigation at the SID headquarters in Kaduna.
