Kaduna Gov. attends Christmas carol, says era of religious discrimination over

By Austine Emmanuel, Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has said that the era of Muslim and Christian discrimination in Kaduna State is over.

Governor Sani stated this during the Kaduna Unity Carol of nine lessons held in Kaduna on Sunday, organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN).

He said his government will prioritise the unity of all and sundry as panacea for sustainable growth and development.

Sani lamented over what he described as a dangerous situation that has caused division amongst residents of Kaduna State, especially in the area of religion.

He said, “While I was growing up, my Dad would always force us to go to all Christmas Carols. So to me it’s a normal thing.

“Leadership is all about equity and justice. My government will not discriminate against anyone on the basis of religion, ethnicity or whatever differences. I will make sure that development is taken to every nook and cranny of Kaduna state.”

The Governor further said that he will be in Southern Kaduna on 21st of December, 2023 for the ground breaking event of four major road constructions, adding that there are important roads that needed to be put in place in the zone.

He reiterated that his government had also put up several empowerment programmes for women and youths, mentioning he would not use politicians at the helm of the project instead would liaise with religious and traditional leaders to get the most vulnerable people in the community.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), Rev. John Joseph Hayab urged the government to do away with the illusion that the Christian community does not love the government.

Hayab noted that the key challenges remain the quest for good governance in the area of justice and equity, stating that they were all united behind past Governors of Kaduna State like Senator Ahmed Makarfi, former vice president, Namadi Sambo and Ramalan Yero until the government that was too busy for them came into power.

He said that the presence of the Governor is the kind of leadership that the people of Kaduna State want to see, stressing that the people are excited to see their leaders with them, even as he described the christian faithfuls as peace loving and obedient people
