Bandits have reportedly abducted two persons around eastern bypass in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, and demanded for N20 million and two motorcycles as ransom after collecting N20 million earlier.
The duo were returning from Abuja to Kaduna in their own Toyaota vehicle around 7:30 p.m. on Monday 21 August 2022, when the incident occurred.
A family friend who narrated the story to our correspondent in confidence on Tuesday in Kaduna explained that the bandits reportedly shot into their car while it was moving.
He also disclosed that the car owner, a retired architect and a cousin sister both sustained bullets injury from the gunshot and immediately stopped the car.
According to the source, while they were been taken into the bush, the aged cousin sister was bleeding seriously owing to the severity of her bullet injury, and was therefore allowed by the bandits to go and treat herself, leaving only the man with them.
“The Bandits later demanded for N20 million ransom from the family of the victim and after given them, they ask for another N20 million,” the source operating business center in Kaduna Nuj premises had said.
The amount, according to the family, was sourced through contributions by friends and sympathisers, and was delivered to bandits through Sheikh Dr. Gum’s aides.
But instead of releasing the victim after collecting the N20 million ransom, the bandits reportedly demanded for another N20 million and two motorcycle ransom before they would release him.
Contacted on phone, the Kaduna State police Command Spokesman DSP Mohammed Jalige could not respond till press time.
On the bullet injury sustained by the man, the sources said, he has been given treatment, according what the bandits said.
