Kaduna achieves 59.2% performance on health budget

The Kaduna State Government has achieved 59.2 percent in the third quarters in its budget performance for the health sector.
This is according to the state’s third quarter budget performance report for the year 2021.
Giving an insight into the budget performance report, Mr Yusuf Goje, of the Coalition of Leadership, Peace Empowerment and Development (CALPED) said “that out of the 38.1 billion naira estimated for the year 2021, for the health sector government has released 22.6 billion Naira.”
At a reflection meeting organized by Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL) and Kaduna Maternal Accountability Mechanism (KADMAM) and other health sector partners, Mr Goje said that the 2021 budget which is revised, translates to 59.2 percent.
“The budget for health in 2021 which is N38.1 billion was revised. Out of the 38.1 billion Naira, government released the sum of 22.6 billion Naira as of the third quarter of 2021,” he said.
“ This translates to 59.2 percent. The balance now remains 15.6 percent which is 40.8 percent.”
Mr Goje however said that the problems which the civil society is frowning at is that the process might not be cash backed fully as it might be difficult to ascertain how it is translating to service delivery in the health sector.
Speaking earlier at the opening ceremony of the reflection, Mr Abel Adejor of PERL said that the major reason why the reflection is held is to help in tracking monies expended in the health sector in Kaduna State.
He said that the reflection will put both the government and civil society especially KADMAM at par especially when it comes to findings in key issues.
Also speaking, Mal Mustapha Juma’are of KADMAM said that participants in the reflection meeting will come out with major solutions which will further move the health sector positively.
He said that there is a need to develop workable framework which will stimulate the Primary Healthcare service in kaduna State in particular as it is the backbone of all medical development.
