JUST IN: Lagos students reject national protest, opt for solidarity walk for Sanwo-Olu

By Sodiq Adelakun

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos Axis, has disassociated itself from the planned national protest tagged “#End Bad Governance in Nigeria” scheduled for August 1 to 10, instead opting for a “Solidarity Walk” to support Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s government.

Alimi Idris, chairman of NANS, Lagos Axis, announced the decision at a news conference at LASUCOM, Ikeja, on Tuesday, stating, “In these trying times, it is crucial that we remember stability, peace, and constructive dialogue in achieving our collective goals.”

The students’ body praised Sanwo-Olu’s government for its support, saying they would rather encourage and support the administration than protest against it.

The solidarity walk, scheduled for the same period as the national protest, mark to promote peace and stability, especially in light of the 2020 #EndSARS incident.
