Osun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Yemi Lawal, has disclosed that the ongoing recruitment of youths into the Osun Youth Employment Schemes (O’YES) has nothing to do with the July 16th governorship election.

Lawal said that the government is doing the recruitment for the benefit of the youths in the state after the government has done the proper planning.

The commissioner commended Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his strategic leadership which he said Governor Oyetola has never jumped into any programme without proper planning.

Lawal stated this while featuring on a current affairs radio programme at Rave FM, Osogbo, State capital on Tuesday, said the present government under Governor Oyetola has taken governance very close to the people.

“Mr. Governor plan adequately before we embarked on this recruitment process. For this recruitment, we have been planning about it and this is time to get it done. We’re doing it just for the benefit of all.”

Lawal said that Mr Governor want to engage youths to contribute to the economy of the state.

According to him, “Osun Youth Employment Schemes, O’YES is the volunteer scheme for youth who are not able to support themselves adequately.

The state is finding a way to provide them with engagement for about three hours a day and it is through the engagement state providing some stipend to them.

“They are to support the state in the areas that the state have gaps. Some of them are to supporting the state in traffic management. Some of them are to supporting those in ambulance services. Some of them are to supporting those in sanitation services.

“The present administration has taken governance very close to the people of the state, especially the youth. Who are the people that are involved in the administration of the state?” he added.
