The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has petitioned the State Commissioner of Police over an allegation that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded an arrangement to cause mayhem in all the local government council area secretariats across the state on Monday following the last week’s judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo that nullified the October 15, 2022 local government council elections in the state.

According to the petition which was written on behalf of the Osun APC by Chief Abimbola Ige Esq of the law chambers of Bola Abimbola Ige and Co, a copy of which was forwarded to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone XI, Osogbo, the PDP with the aid of political hoodlums have mapped out plans to forcefully take over the local government council secretariats with the use of maximum force.

In the petition titled ‘URGENT NEED TO CURB THE SHENANIGANS AND ATTEMPT TO COMMIT CRIMES OF PDP OSUN OVER THE JUDGMENT OF THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT IN FHC/OS/94/2022′, the APC appealed to the state Commissioner of Police to take charge of his statutory professional responsibilities in order to avert turning the state into a battle field by the PDP thugs.

The petition reads: “We act as solicitors to the All Progressives Congress (APC)(hereinafter referred to as Our Client on whose instructions, directives and brief we have to write you as follows:
“Our client is a party to the Suit No. FHC/OS/CS/94/2022 – PDP V. INEC & 7 ORS which borders on the legality or otherwise of the conduct of the Local Government election of the 15th October, 2022.

“It is on record that the judgment annulling the said Local Government elections was delivered by His Lordship, Honourable Justice Ayo Emmanuel in respect of the case today being the 25th day of November 2022.

“Our client, in spite of its having filed notice of appeal and motion for stay of execution of the judgment, has it on good authority and we have no reason to doubt the assertion of its members in this regard that no sooner had the judgment been delivered than the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Osun State Chapter, making statements capable of plunging the state into avoidable chaos, disorderliness and breach of public peace.

“Baring any unforeseen circumstances and without the quick intervention of your good offices, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Osun State chapter, has perfected plans to march on all local governments across the state on Monday the 28th day of November, 2022 with a view to formenting trouble by assaulting anyone at sight, destroying and vandalizing any property of government, those personally owned by the local government officials as well as those belonging to the chieftains and prominent members of our client.

“Take notice that the posturing of the Peoples’ Democratic Party as enumerated above should not be treated with kid’s gloves as lives and properties of Osun people for which your good offices are statutorily set up to protect are at stake.

“It is important to note that Osun cannot afford the loss of lives of any of her sons and daughters as witnessed in Ede with respect to the gruesome murder of Olalekan Abideen and Olalekan Kafayat in the wake of July 16 gubernatorial election.

“In view of the above, we call on your office to swing into action with immediacy this report of intending mayhem planned on Osun people by the
Peoples’ Democratic Party.

“We have implicit confidence in your policing skills and facility to forestall and nip in the bud any attempt to commit crime which the act of Peoples’ Democratic Party, Osun State connotes.

“Be assured of our continual esteemed regards for your person and office as we await positive and quick response to our letter”, the Osun APC stated.
