A former Federal Board Member, Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Otunba (Dr) Babatunde Onakoya (DeBasco), has embarked on last minute mobilisation of voters for the re-election of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.
The Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) during door to door campaign yesterday in the morning of Wednesday in Lagos and Shagamu in Ogun State told Correspondent of Nigerian NewsDirect that sacrifice of his time for the re-election of Govs Abiodun and Sanwo-Olu is to promote joint commercial integration of both states.
According to him, “Ogun is to Lagos what New Jersey is to the New York in the United States! This is what our people have been craving for.
“If we must secure better lives for our people and actualize New Jersey and New York’s political and socio-economic growth and development for Lagos and Ogun, we must hand over return tickets for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in both States on Saturday 18th March, 2023,” he pointed out.
Otunba Onakoya explained that the tradition, culture, congruence, topograpgy, mutuality, relationship, proximity, demography and shared values that exist between Lagos and Ogun States have dated back to the time immemorial. He added that the two Nigeria’s States are Yoruba-Speaking States of Southwest with indigenous people of Ijebu, Remo, Egba and Awori having dual citizenship of these two Great States.
“Hence, the two APC Governors, Dapo Abiodun and Babajide Sanwo-Olu met and established what is now known today as Lagos-Ogun Joint Development Commission,” he said.
“With the Joint Development Commission that now exists between the two States,” he said, “there will be a mutual economic growth, infrastructure, cross-border security, healthcare delivery, education, shared prosperity and much more.”
Consequently, DeBasco Group, an Ogun, Lagos-based Political Group, appealed to the residents of the two States to re-elect Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for Lagos State and Governor Dapo Abiodun for Ogun State in order to actualise the Lagos-Ogun Joint Development Commission.
