Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has announced that the death toll from the recent petrol tanker explosion has tragically risen to 171.

The governor made this statement while addressing members of the House of Representatives, emphasising the gravity of the situation.

“The state government has assumed full responsibility for the medical care of the victims,” Governor Namadi stated. “This is a serious tragedy from God Almighty, and we are praying for His mercy.”

in the wake of the incident, Hon. Adamu Yakubu, representing Birninkudu/Buji Federal Constituency, expressed profound shock at the high number of fatalities.

“There is no accident anywhere that has claimed over 100 lives at once. Even during the Boko Haram crisis, there was no incident where over 100 people died,” he said.

Yakubu praised the governor for his commitment to supporting the victims and their families, describing the government’s response as a demonstration of true concern for the community.
