No fewer than 520 students gained admission to School Of Health Technology, Jahun, Jigawa State this year.
The director of the school, Alhaji Surajo Suleiman, who disclosed this said the admission into the school was based on merit and quota system.
Surajo explained that every year, the school admits 50 students in the J CEW department, 75 students in community health extension workers department, and 50 students in medical laboratory technician (MLT) department.
The department of dental surgery technician has 50 student, bio medical engineering department has 50 students and the dispensing opticianry has 30 students.
Health information technician department has 70 students scale and ithe department of Environmental health technician has 100 students who were admitted.
The director explained that the school gave more consideration to few local governments based on catchment areas and lack of health personnel, where each has a slot of 25 students instead of 15.
These local governments include Buji, Miga, Birniwa, Auyo, Kirikasamma and Gagarawa.
He added that neighbouring states like Kano has more advantage as a mother state, saying “ we admit nine students from Kano state out 40 slot given to the states near Jigawa.”
In the area of development, the school has erected solar power to supply energy to the school and in the area of water supply, the school has purchased solar panel and inverter as well as somersault pump to ensure, spending over N8.62 million.
The school has also constructed six hostel soak away at the cost of N480,000.
