The Jigawa state People Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded an apology from the National working committee (NWC) of the party for allegedly trying to tarnish the image of the state leader.
The state chapter of the party made the demand at a press conference at the party secretariat addressed by the Party’s secretary, Alh.Isah Bello Gwadayi.
The Party said: “We have noticed with dismay the imbroglio that is unfolding in statement issued in the Rivers State at PDP office by National Working Committee was aimed at tarnishing the refutation of our leader, Sule Lamido.”
He described Dr Sule Lamido as a founding father of the party who has shown his genuine and sincere concern by drawing the party attention for immediate action rather than heed to fatherly advice.
He also charged the national party officials to concentrate on party development rather than to continue attacking the party elder to tarnish his reputation.
“We here in Jigawa are our main concern, we are working hard to see how we are going to lead the party to victory in the next coming general election rather than condemnation of the founding fathers of the party. But unfortunately, the NWC through the National publicity Secretary have decided to release a disrespectful press statement against Sule Lamido, our leader.”
The Secretary explained further that the Jigawa State PDP chapter and all stakeholders in the state have taken a common stand that the National Working Committee must write and seek for Lamido’s apology .
He reminded the committee that elders like Sule Lamido took a lot of risks including going to prison for them to occupy the position they are now enjoying .
“The primary function of the NWC is to serve, protect and promote the fortunes of the party not to offer means of livelihood and end off in condemning the leaders,” he said.
