Jigawa: Man, 32, arrested for torturing 8-year-old girl with scissors, spoon

In a horrific incident that has left residents of Jigawa State reeling in shock, a 32-year-old man, Bashir Umar, has been arrested and prosecuted for subjecting an 8-year-old girl to unimaginable torture, including inserting scissors and a spoon into her vagina and anus, and injecting her private part with a syringe.

According to the Jigawa State Police Command, the suspect, a resident of Galamawa town in Dutse Local Government, coerced the minor into a restroom at the Dutse Divisional Police Headquarters on August 29, where he carried out the heinous crime.

“The assailant subjected the child to unimaginable torture, inserting scissors and a spoon into her vagina and anus, and injecting her private part with a syringe, leaving her unconscious and bleeding profusely,” said DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, Police spokesman, Jigawa Command.

The suspect then exploited the girl’s vulnerability, offering her N150 and threatening to harm her and her parents if she disclosed the abuse. He continued to terrorise and assault her, using the same techniques and silencing her with threats whenever he encountered her on her way to school.

The victim has suffered severe physical consequences, including urinary and stool-related issues, as a result of the brutal assault. She later disclosed the protracted extramarital affairs she had with the suspect.

“The survivor is currently at Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital Dutse where she was admitted receiving treatment,” said DSP Shiisu.

The suspect was arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse for discreet investigation. The suspect has since been prosecuted in court to face the full wrath of the law.
