Jigawa Govt to construct 1,500 housing units

The Jigawa state government has earmarked the sum of N5.9 billion for the construction of 1,500 housing units in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen by the Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmed.

According to Hon. Sagir,  the gesture is part of Governor Umar Namadi 12 Points Agenda which include Land Reforms and Urban Infrastructure to expand affordable mass housing projects across the State.

The Commissioner explained that a total number of 500 housing units of two bedroom semi-detached will be constructed across the state in the first phase.

“The State Executive Council has deliberated and approved a memorandum presented by the Ministry of Land, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning for the award of contract for the construction of 1,500 housing Units  of affordable Mass Housing projects,” he stated .

He explained further that the mass housing project will have a total of 1,500 Units of three bedrooms stand alone and two bedroom semi-detached houses.

The mass housing will be constructed in Dutse being the State capital with 600 units. Similarly, Hadejia will have 200 housing units while  Kazaure, Gumel, Ringim and Birnin Kudu will have 100 housing Units each.

Others like Babura and Kafin Hausa will have 150 housing units each to support the high demand of accommodation due to the presence of Federal and State universities in the two local government areas.
