Jigawa Govt releases N18m to avert flooding

The Jigawa State Government has released the sum of 18 million Naira for the clearance of water way in Dutse metropolitan area to avoid annual flooding in the state capital.
The Special Adviser to Jigawa State Governor, Badaru Abubakar, on Urban Renewal, Alhaji Najib Falalu Tukur Gantsa, confirmed the story.
Gantsa said eight Local Governments including Hadejia, Kafin Hausa, Kazaure, Gumel, Ringim, Babura, Birnin Kudu, and Dutse, were selected to benefit from it.
The SA that the State Government is committed to building a new water way that will solve the flood issue that threatens communities living around the state capital.
He, therefore, charged the residents to desist from dumping refuse inside the drainage which to avoid blockage of the drainage system.
According to him, the government will not allow anyone caught engaging in indiscriminate waste disposal go scot free.
The Special Adviser also suspend the rumour speculation. alleged against him for collecting six million N6m out of the total N18 million. Approved by the State Government for the project as kickedback to jigawa state Governor.
Meanwhile, he denied the allegations that he picked out N3m out of the 18 million, stating that he purportedly utilised only nine million to purchased the materials to clear the drainage.
Gantsa said, “It is a lie. I have never collected anything from the Governor, and I did not take any thing out of that N18 million. We all spent the money for the project. We purchases the working tools and pay the labourers we employed.”
He said the project was conducted by DCDA staff and other civil society groups in addition to over 29 self-help groups, adding that they did their best to pay those who worked on the project.
