
Jigawa Governor loses Mum

In a somber announcement that has left the people of Jigawa State and the nation in shock, the Governor of Jigawa, His Excellency Mallam Umar Namadi, has confirmed the passing of his beloved mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar.
She passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, December 25, 2024, on Christmas Day, a time of celebration for Christians and a period of reflection for Muslims as they prepare for the New Year.
A statement issued to the media, signed by the Governor’s press secretary, Malam Hamish Gumel, conveyed the heartbreaking news.
The Governor shared his sorrow with the public, saying, “It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my dear mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar. She left us early this morning, and her burial rites will be observed at 4:30 PM today in her hometown of Kafin Hausa, in accordance with Islamic traditions.”
Governor Namadi, who had been in the midst of Christmas celebrations with his family and the Christian community, has requested prayers from the public for the repose of his mother’s soul.
“We ask for prayers for the eternal rest of her soul. May Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant her Jannah and provide comfort to our family during this difficult time,” the statement added.
The news of Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar’s passing has deeply resonated throughout Jigawa State, with residents and leaders from across the region offering their condolences to the Governor and his family.
The loss comes at a time when the state, alongside the rest of the world, was preparing for festive celebrations and the welcoming of the New Year.
