The Jigawa Government on Tuesday disbursed over N1 billion to 474 retirees and beneficiaries from the families of those who died on active service for the month of October 2022.
Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu, the Executive Secretary, Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board, made this known to newsmen in Dutse.
It was reported that of the N1,053,876,905.99 disbursed, N869,727,822.23 was paid as retirement benefits, N157,504,866.34 was paid as death benefits, N25,946,165.03 was paid as death pension balance and N698,052.39 was paid as refund of 10 per cent contGiving the breakdown, Aliyu said a total of N869,727,822.23 was paid to 390 beneficiaries.
Of the amount, N248,872,348.86 was paid to 105 retirees from the state service, N135,468,646.25 was paid to 95 retirees from the local governments service, and N485,386,827.12 was paid to 190 retirees from local government education authority service.
Aliyu said the sum of N157,504,866.34 was also paid to 59 beneficiaries from the families of those who died on active service.
Of the amount, N70,218,696.34 was paid to 21 beneficiaries whose loved ones served in the state, N33,515,372.00 to 19 beneficiaries from the local governments service and N53,770,798.00 to another 19 beneficiaries from education authority service.
Similarly, N25,946,165.03 was paid to 24 beneficiaries from the families of those who died while receiving their entitlements before reaching five years after retirement.
Of the amount, N13,748,257.80 was paid to nine beneficiaries from the state service, N7,559,755.64 was paid to 11 beneficiaries from the local governments service while N4,638,151.59 was paid to four beneficiaries from local government education authority service respectively.
Aliyu said that N698,052.39 was paid to a beneficiary from the state service whose loved one died before contributing up to five years, as refund of eight per cent contribution.
