Alleged of Illegal travelling, the Jigawa state house of assembly has suspended three local government council chairman on all aged travelling outside the country without seeking permission from the state executive or legislative.

The suspended chairmen included Hon. Mubarak Ahmed of Birniwa local government; Hon Rufai Sunusi of Gumel local government; and Hon Umar Baffa of Birniwa local government who was said to have traveled to Rwanda.

The House took the decision, after chairman House Committee on Local Government Affairs Hon Aminu Zakari Tsubut forwarded a motion for the suspension of the affected council chairmen.

He narrated that, prior to their travelling, the house had given an order for the local government council chairmen in the state to not travel anywhere due to the preparation of 2024 state appropriation bill and its presentation to the assembly by the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi.

Hon Tsubut described the action of the chairmen as insubordination, a nonchalant attitude to the primary responsibility which ought to be investigated and punished according to the law.

The members representing Malam Madori constituency, Hon  Usman Abdullahi Tura and Member representing Guri Hon Hamza Guri seconded the motion moved by Hon Tsubut.

The House then unanimously approved for the suspension of the three local government chairmen and directed their vice to take over.

However, the house constituted a committee under the chairmanship of the Majority Leader of the house Hon. Lawan Muhammad Dansure to investigate the matter and reported back to the house within 4 weeks for further action.
