JAMB extends UTME, DE registration deadline for foreign candidates

By Sodiq Adelakun

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has confirmed that candidates in the United Kingdom (UK) and other foreign countries will have the opportunity to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 2024.

This confirmation was made in response to inquiries via JAMB’s official X (formerly Twitter) platform on Monday, March 25.

JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, explained that the extension of UTME registration to foreign countries was aimed at accommodating all candidates wishing to sit for the examination. Benjamin further stated that the extension also applies to candidates in other countries besides the UK.

Recall that in a statement issued on Saturday, March 23, Benjamin noted that the original closing date for Direct Entry (DE) registration, slated for Thursday, March 28, 2024, has been extended to Thursday, April 11, 2024. This extension aims to address the challenges faced by candidates during the security screening process, particularly regarding the verification of A’level certificates.

Benjamin apologised for any inconveniences caused to prospective DE candidates and assured them that the registration process would be made more user-friendly in the future.

“JAMB remains committed to ensuring fair and accessible opportunities for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria,” he said.

Much earlier, the board opened a window for the applicants of 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to correct their subject combinations. The examination body said UTME candidates can correct their subjects combination from to 15th March, 2024.

JAMB equally made this known in a post shared on its X handle (formerly known as Twitter) @JAMBHQ on Thursday, March 14. UTME candidates were advised to quickly take advantage of the window to make the necessary corrections.
