IWD: Rise against policies that can bottleneck your aspirations —Osun First Lady tells women

Osun State First Lady, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola has charged women in the State and Nigeria at large to rise against actions and policies that could constitute a bottleneck for their aspirations.

Mrs Oyetola equally challenged them to form a synergy aimed at confronting headlong all forms of violence against them.

She said this during a courtesy visit to her office by the Executives and members of the International Federation of women lawyers (FIDA) in celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD).

Mrs Oyetola in her remarks while congratulating women in the state and the country at large for the grace to witness this year’s celebration observed with pride and satisfaction the contributions of women to national and international developments.

She lauded women professionals in different fields of human endeavours who have been playing prominent roles thereby enhancing the standard of living of the entire women folks, locally, nationally and Internationally.

According to her, the annual International Women’s Day was set aside by the United Nations to celebrate women by drawing attention to issues that are of concern to their growth and advancement all over the world.

Mrs Oyetola who described the tasks ahead of women as enormous and challenging, however, opined that they are not beyond redemption if they exercise restraint and tenacity of purpose.

She also condemned the age-old practice of Female Genital Mutilation, calling on stakeholders in the campaign towards eradicating this barbaric and inhuman practice not to give up until it is curbed.
