By Moses Adeniyi

Heat of crises in Nigeria’s South East assumed a tougher dimension on Sunday, asunknown gunmen invaded the Anambra home of the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Drainage and Water Resources, Joe Igbokwe, and some key security facilitatiess in the State.

The gunmen, according to report gathered, also set ablaze the offices of the Department of State Service (DSS) and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The gunmen who were reported to have driven from Owerri Road in the industrial town in four Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), stopped at Emecourt Road Junction where they fired gunshots, leaving those around to take to their heels for dear life.

The gunmen then reportedly head to the nearby DSS and FRSC offices which they set ablaze, while two persons were reportedly shot dead.

In his reaction that confirmed the attack on his home, Igbokwe on Sunday evening accused the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as the masterminder of the attacks.

In his Facebook handle, he said: “IPOB invaded my house in Nnewi about now. I am sure they raised down my house, given the jerry cans of petrol I saw being offloaded from their Sienna car via CCTV. ‘To God be the glory. I am still alive.’”

Igbokwe has recently been hard in his criticism against the IPOB movement, frowning particularly at their sit-at-home order which recently have been taking toll in the Southeast.
