IoD conference: Buhari, Amina Mohammed call for increased adoption of technological solutions to boost economic prosperity

President Muhammadu Buhari and the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Ms Amina. J. Mohammed have called for the increased adoption of technological solutions in the country to foster economic prosperity.
Speaking at the Institute of Directors (IoD) 2022 Annual Director’s Conference held in Lagos, President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, said the challenges associated with corporate governance are multifaceted and hence the need for heads of organizations to utilise the use of technology so as to achieve successful governance.
In his speech, the president identified the private sector as critical stakeholders driving the economy and the public sector as the provider of the enabling environment.
He called for collaboration between both sectors for the interest and betterment of the nation.
“While I am committed to bettering the ease of doing business in Nigeria, all hands must be on deck for the country to come out of the economic challenges,” he said.
Deputy Secretary General of the UN, Ms Amina Mohammed noted that, “technology and digitalisation are the frontiers of today’s world and it will set the era of digital transformation in the area of health, education, agriculture and finance.
“Digital revolution is not without risks and requires concerted efforts in understanding risks taking responsibilities,” She said.
She, however, encouraged countries to strive for digital policies that prevent these while also disclosing the plans of the UN to unveil a digital compact to be signed in 2024 which countries around the world can leverage on.
