IoD concludes action plans to reinvent boards, management practices

The Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria says it is introducing action plans to reinvent boards, management practices and leadership processes across all organisations’ operational levels.

This came after the conclusion of the institute’s North America board governance summit in Ontario, Canada

Director-General, IoD, Mr Dele Alimi said this in a report issued on Monday in Lagos, following a three-day Summit between July 26 and July 28.

IoD is Nigeria’s premier corporate governance institute and a leading promoter of ethical professional standards in Nigeria.

According to Alimi, the summit with theme: “The Chair, the CEO and Leadership Responsibilities,” was attended by delegates from Central Bank of Nigeria, First Trust Mortgage Bank Ltd., Shell Nigeria Closed Pension Fund and other organisations.

He said the event was unanimously adjudged ‘impactful’ by participants due to the richness of the content, the high quality of resource persons and the practicality of the delivery methodologies.

Alimi added that the institute had evolved to meeting the changing needs of the business world through avenues such as the summit.

“We have developed other innovative programmes and initiatives, which provide a rigorous framework for recognising and enhancing the skills and experience of directors across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

“The Institute of Directors of Nigeria has been and would continue to be instrumental to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy,” he said.
