Investors in the equities market gains 1.4% yesterday

Equities market on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed marginally on positive note for the second day of this week, as investors in the equities market continues to maintain upward performance.

Meanwhile, The NGX All share index appreciated by 709.54 points representing 1.4 per cent to close trade at 50,835.95 index points, while the overall market capitalisation value for the second day of trade gained N383 billion to close trade N27.406 trillion from N27.023 trillion it closed trade on Wednesday.

The upward performance of the trade was impacted by the gains recorded in medium and large capitalised stocks amongst are,Guinness ply, Mcnichols, NB, Conoil oil plc, and 28 other stocks.

The market sentiments as measured by market breadth was positive as 32 stocks constituted the gainers, while 23 stocks constituted the decliners.

The volume of trade declined by 31 per cent from N669.299 million units it closed on Wednesday to N462.595 million units it closed yesterday valued by N8.305 billion exchange in 6,801 deals.

On advancers table, Guinness plc and Mcnichols emerged as the highest price gainer which appreciated by 10 per cent increased to close trade at N110 and N0.77 per share respectively.

NB was the third best gainer rose by 9.95 per cent or 6.25 kobo increased to close trade at N69.05 per share, while Fidson grew up by 9.93 per cent increased to close trade at N9.85 per share and lastly, Conoil oil plc went up by 9.92 per cent increased to close trade at N28.80 per share.

On the decliners table, Transcohot was recorded as the most decliners after trade which declined by 9.09 per cent to close trade at N4.50 per share, Followed by Multiverse which dipped by 8.70 per cent or 0.45 kobo to close trade at N0.21 per share, while Mutual benefit Assurance went down by 7.69 per cent to close trade at N0.24 per share.

Gt cocoa dropped by 0.03 kobo representing 7.69 per cent to close trade at N0.36 per share and Oando plc which recorded as the last fifth losers went down by 7.41 per cent to close trade at N5.25 per share.

Transaction in the share of First city monument bank topped the activity chart traded 138.519 million shares worth 485.226 million, Followed by Zenith bank which transacted 29.352 million shares value at 705.039 million.

Transcorp transacted 26.386 million shares worth 30.637 million, United bank of Africa traded 20.681 million shares worth 166.378 million and Guaranty Trust Holdings Company transacted 20.306 million shares value at 478.768 million.
