International Women’s Day: NSSG trains 8,990 women into various trades –Commissioner
The Niger State Government has trained 8,990 women in various trades, under it’s skills acquisition programme in different parts of the state.
Hajiya Fati Mafara , Commissioner for Women Affairs, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on the 2021 International Women’s Day, in Minna, on Monday.
Mafara, said that the beneficiaries were trained in knitting, soap making, tailoring, handset repairs, among others., explaining that already the ministry had set in motion modalities to train more women on different skills.
The Commissioner lauded the effort of Gov. Abubakar Bello, for appointing a woman as Head of Service , Permanent Secretaries, Director General Commissioners and Special Advisers.
” We will continue to request for more support from the state government, so as to achieve a more robust and sustainable development for women in the state.
She said that already the ministry had reached out to traditional and religious leaders in the promotion of girl-child education in the state .
The Commissioner called on women to compliment the effort of the state government in the fight against banditry and kidnapping, by offering information that could assist security personnel .
