International Children’s Day: Group urges children to be agents of transformation
Mater Dei Communication Centre, a Moral Rebranding Group, has urged Nigerian children to be agents of change and transformation.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Barth Ikiebe, the Director, Media and Publicity, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.
It said the Country Director of the centre, Mr Nnamdi Okpara, gave the charge as the Nigeria joins the world to commemorate the International Children’s Day 2021.
Okpara enjoined them to be of good conduct and be mindful of moral lessons they had learnt from parents, guardians, members of the society and teachers to shape them into leaders of tomorrow.
The country director advised the children to be agents for transforming Nigeria into a great nation, adding that their ability will translate to be the ability of the nation.
“We want to assure you that the Federal Government of Nigeria owes it as an obligation to you that you have the right to free education, quality health services, free transportation to schools and free meal.
“But before you can enjoy these facilities, you must stay away from vices such as cultism, violence, examination malpractice and being punctual at school.
“Productively engage yourself in building our nation, imbibe the culture of queuing respectively, taking turns in whatever you do during social gatherings,” he said.
Okafor said the future holds good fortune for the children and urged them to reciprocate by doing their best.
Report says that Mater Dei Communication is partnering with the National Orientation Agency to celebrate the 2021 Children’s Day.
