In a recent development, Cardinal James Odunmbaku, popularly known as ‘Baba Eto,’ finds himself under scrutiny as concerns about his political style emerge. Formally appointed as the chairman of the BATCO Group, later renamed ‘The Mandate Movement’, Baba Eto’s actions have raised questions about integrity and leadership.

Baba Eto’s rise to leadership began when recommended by coordinators to serve as chairman due to the busy schedule of the then-CGS, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. Despite qualified members within the group, Aregbesola chose Baba Eto, who later changed the group’s name unilaterally.

Allegations suggest that Baba Eto, driven by personal motives, ousted several directors, leaving only one in a surprising turn of events. Despite evidence against him, Aregbesola and others overlooked his actions, even facilitating his GAC membership.

A significant revelation in the news is that Baba Eto was removed as chairman when attempting to change the group’s name. Alhaji Ganiyu Badmus assumed the role before passing it to Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo with stakeholders’ consensus.

The statement emphasizes the need for Baba Eto to exhibit integrity, urging him to consider relinquishing achievements obtained with Aregbesola’s assistance, including land in Ibeju Lekki belonging to The Mandate Movement. Chief Olu Arulogun, Chair of Chairmen at The Mandate Movement, warns against aligning with Baba Eto’s agenda, emphasizing the disclosure for the sake of truth.

The Mandate Movement calls for amicable solutions to disagreements between leaders, urging members to protect their reputation from potential fallout associated with Baba Eto’s actions.
