Insurance Football Club of Benin say they are putting in place strategies for a well-coordinated team to help them gain promotion to the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The club’s spokesman, Kehinde Osagiede, said in a statement on Tuesday in Benin that they plan to offload several players in their camp who are considered to be surplus to requirements.
“We must move to the elite division by the end of the 2021/2022 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
“Players who are unable to fit into the club’s plan for the coming season will be asked to go after the completion of the fresh players’ recruitment,” he said.
Osagiede added that the players’ recruitment, which was ongoing, would be concluded within the next few weeks.
He said the recruitment was borne out of the club management’s resolve to build a more solid and compact team ahead of the next football season .
“Bendel Insurance FC have resumed work after the end of the 2020/2021 NNL season brief recess.
“The technical crew has opened the gate for talented and experienced players to come for trials,” the club spokesman said.
Osagiede disclosed that the club currently has a total of 36 players in their books.
Insurance FC failed to secure promotion to the elite league at the end of the 2020/2021 NNL season after coming up short at the league’s Super 8 playoffs in Enugu.
They had placed second behind Remo Stars of Sagamu in the Group B2 of the 2020/2021 NNL during the regular season.
