Inspiring others: How Sade became a role model in her community

By Ayobami Ajose

Sade grew up in Ogun State, raised by her grandmother who taught her the importance of being strong and independent.

Life wasn’t always easy, but Sade learned to rely on herself and handle whatever came her way. When it came to love, she didn’t expect much.

From a young age, she believed she would likely raise children on her own, without the complications of a partner.

That all changed when she met Kunle. Kunle was a well-known man in the community, full of life, laughter, and kindness.

He often visited Sade’s neighborhood and, over time, their paths crossed more and more. Kunle’s charm and caring nature slowly won Sade over.

For the first time, she allowed herself to dream of a different kind of future—one where she wasn’t alone.

Before long, they got married, and soon after, they had two beautiful children. For a few years, everything felt like a dream come true. Sade had a loving family, a supportive husband, and their home was filled with joy. Life was simple, and that was enough for her.

But as time passed, things started to change. Sade began hearing whispers from people in the community. There were rumours about Kunle being involved with other women. At first, she brushed them aside, trusting in the man she had married. But soon, the truth became impossible to ignore. Kunle had fathered children with two other women.

The revelation left Sade devastated. The man she had trusted had betrayed her in the worst way. The pain of that betrayal weighed heavily on her, making it difficult for her to focus on her responsibilities.

Her health began to suffer, and she struggled to take care of her home, her farm, and her children. The life she had built suddenly felt like it was crumbling around her.

Feeling lost and overwhelmed, Sade knew she needed help. She turned to a group of women at her church — women who had faced similar challenges in their marriages and personal lives. Their stories, filled with pain but also resilience, gave her the strength she needed to keep going. Slowly but surely, Sade began to rebuild her life.

She returned to working on her farm, tending to the crops she had once neglected. To secure her family’s future, she enrolled in business classes, determined to learn how to earn her own money and become financially independent.

As she worked on her personal growth, she also found the courage to confront Kunle. She told him that she deserved better—that his disrespect and betrayal would no longer be tolerated.

Standing up for herself was one of the hardest things Sade had ever done, but it was also the moment she began to reclaim her life.

She made it clear that her children’s well-being was her priority, and she wouldn’t allow them to grow up in an environment filled with lies and disrespect.

Though the journey to healing wasn’t easy, Sade grew stronger with each passing day. Her hard work on the farm paid off, and she became well-respected in her community, not only as a farmer but as a woman of strength and resilience.

Other women, hearing her story, began to look up to her, seeing in her a source of inspiration and guidance.

Sade’s story, no matter how painful betrayal can be, it doesn’t have to define who you are. She showed that it’s possible to rise from hardship, to rebuild after loss, and to reclaim your power.

Through courage and perseverance, Sade proved that even when life seems to fall apart, you can find the strength within to piece it back together and create something even stronger.
