By Austine Emmanuel, Kaduna
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has assured Nigerians that notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, will soon be apprehended.
General Musa gave the assurance during the 38th-anniversary dinner night of the Nigerian Defence Academy’s 38 Regular Course in Kaduna, where he was also honoured as a member of the same course, stressing that Bello’s arrest is imminent.
The CDS, who acknowledged the security challenges facing the country, particularly in the Northwest, emphasised that the Armed Forces and other Security Agencies are making progress in tackling the situation, lamenting that insecurity is a now a new world order despite improved technologies
Specifically mentioning the efforts to track down Bello Turji, the CDS reiterated that getting him is just a matter of time, noting that Security Agencies are working together to ensure that he is brought to justice.
“The security challenges we are facing are not only Nigeria’s alone; it’s a global phenomenon,” General Musa stated. “We are standing up to the occasion, and we are getting there. The security situation is improving, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Nigeria is safe and secure.”
He also appealed to Nigerians to support the security agencies, by reporting suspicious moves, stressing the importance of community engagement in combating insecurity.
Christopher said, “We cannot do it alone; it’s a teamwork. We need the cooperation and collaboration of all Nigerians to tackle the security challenges facing our nation.
“Don’t allow these guys to stay in your communities, don’t trade with them, nor give them support. Report any suspicious activity to the authorities, and together, we will defeat these criminal elements,” he added.
The CDS’s assurance comes at a critical time, as Nigeria navigates its complex security landscape, characterised by banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.
