Insecurity: NSCDC Commander calls for improved intelligence gathering

Adeyinka Ayinla, the Commander in charge of Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has reiterated on the need for an improved, credible and proactive  intelligence gathering in order to curtail the overwhelming rate of criminality in the country.

Ayinla, who made the statement on Tuesday in Akure, the state capital during his tour to the state commands under his jurisdiction, however, said the only way to key into and support the efforts of the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi was to strengthen the intelligence base of the corps.

While addressing the senior officers and men of the command in Ondo, Ayinla said the Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states under his watch would soon launch the Zonal Rapid Response Squad who having gone through requisite, thorough and rigorous trainings would be deployed to combat crimes across the three region.

He, therefore, called for the support of the government and the critical stakeholders to collaborate with the NSCDC as the issue of security has now become a collective responsibility which must not be taken with levity.

Meanwhile, the Deji of Akure kingdom, Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, has commended the corps for her continuous display of professional conduct and pragmatism in the provision of adequate security for the good people of Ondo State.

Aladelusi, who made the commendation during a courtesy visit of the NSCDC commandant, Hammed Abodunrin to his palace said it has become very imperative for the security agencies to employ new strategies and tactics to combating crimes in the country.

The monarch, while affirming his uninterrupted support for the command, however, said the state would continue to be peaceful if every stakeholders come together with combined and cooperate mindsets to stamp down crimes in the communities and environs.
