Insecurity: Labour leader bemoans level of kidnapping

…Seeks adequate security of Ekiti workers

Security agents have been admonished not to relent in finding effective and lasting solutions to insecurity menace in the country, Nigerian NewsDirect reports.

Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ekiti State, Comrade Olatunde Kolapo gave the charge during a courtesy visit to the Ekiti State Police Command, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ekiti State Command.

Comrade Olatunde who explained that safety of Nigerians should be given priority noted that the visit was to appeal to security outfits to provide adequate security for workers in the State.

Comrade Kolapo lamented the current situations where people could not sleep with their two eyes closed, urging the security agencies to strengthen its surveillance and intelligence gathering.

The labour union leader in Ekiti State appealed to government at all levels to support security agents by providing necessary logistics for them to discharge their duties effectively.

While speaking, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Tunde Mobayo said, to curtail insecurity in the country, there is a need for synergy between the police force and the citizens.

He thanked the leadership of labour in the State for the visit.

On similar visit to NSCDC, the Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ekiti state command, Mr John Fayemi who appreciated the effort of NLC for the visit, noted that one of the core mandates of NSCDC is to guarantee a peaceful society.

The delegation also visited the office of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST Ekiti State branch where the NLC Chairman urged government to renovate the Corporation’s abandoned building affected during road construction and complete the ongoing building project now at roofing level.

He lamented inconducive atmosphere under which staffs operate, hence government should do the needful.

The NLC  Chairman urged the Federal and State Government to urgently rehabilitate the office and restore the motivation and sanctity of the staff, saying NLC Ekiti State Chapter would appreciate urgent positive moves in such direction, Nigerian NewsDirect reports.
