Insecurity: I never asked Christians to buy guns — Adeboye

Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said he never asked christians to buy guns, stating that some media platforms had misquoted him.

He stated that Christians don’t need guns but they should get jaw bones of cows instead of guns, making reference to Samson in the Holy Bible who did exploits with jawbone of an ass.

Pastor Adeboye said this on Sunday at Mount Carmel, Ifewara, Osun State while delivering his message titled ‘Meant for the top,’ during the church’s monthly thanksgiving service.

The reverred cleric was clarifying an earlier message at the Friday’s monthly Holy Ghost service where he was quoted to have asked christians to buy guns for self defence, especially the churches during service.

He said, “I am ministering from Mount Carmel. And God is reaching you with fire.

“Fire of God must fall and reach every family. God will be answering your prayers with fire.

“Nothing happens in this world without God. Until your time comes no one can kill you.

“Don’t listen to those saying don’t go to church, that something will happen.

“If they come they will meet God at the gate.

“I never told any Christian to go and buy guns.

“Don’t go and buy guns. It is difficult to get permission to get guns. You don’t need permission to buy the jawbone of a cow.

“Samson won a victory with jawbone of an ass.

“Don’t buy guns, we don’t want to kill anyone. We just don’t want unwanted visitors to come to our church.”

Recall that on Sunday June 5, 2022, gunmen attacked a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State during mass killing no fewer than 40 worshippers.

In his sermon, Pastor Adeboye while outlining what Christians who want to get to the top and stay there must do, he said they must be diligent, must be guided by the spirit of God and they must be pure.
