Insecurity: Government must rise from slumber
Insecurity has become an albatross of thorns inflicting Nigerians with pains and heavy discomfort. How citizens are being subjected to unending chain of cruelty by mischievous groups of persons, have gone beyond the limit of tolerance. It is apparent a group of persons with diabolical ideologies are hell-bent on fighting a course to make life unbearable for unharmed citizens to achieve mischievous goals best known to them. Monday, July 04, 2022, night, Tudun Ibru in Kajuru LGA of Kaduna state had recorded inhumane narratives, as a pastor with the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA Church), Rev. Adamu Buba, who was kidnapped when bandits attacked the community, was found dead by locals on Tuesday, 05, July 2022, near the community. However, as if it were not enough, the bandits would be hell-bent to show the depth of their villain spirit with another attack to disperse bereaved mourners who gathered to mourn the cleric.
Report had revealed how the Monday night attack claimed three persons, while some people were kidnapped. It was reported the kidnappers moved to Doka and abducted nine people with the ECWA Church pastor of Tudun Ibru, Rev. Adamu Buba being one among those kidnapped. His body was later found dead Tuesday morning.
A similar attack on a Catholic Church in Kauru, Kaduna State, on Monday had also recorded the abduction of a Catholic priest, Father Emmanuel Silas at the parish rectory at St. Charles Catholic Church in Zambina, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The wrongs of insecurity in the Country have continued to send forth not only disturbances and panic among the citizens, but beyond the shores of the Country, perspectives giving different interpretations to the spate of happenings of misfortunes of attacks. The recent spate of attacks on churches by bandits had recently raised an alarm of what observing Countries would see as threats to right of religion. It would be recalled that recently no fewer than five U.S. Republican Senators had requested for the redesignation of Nigeria as a Country of particular concern because of alleged persecution of Christians.
The Senators who made the call in a letter to the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, also alleged violation of freedom of Christians’ rights to practice their religion.
The sensations of insecurity in the Country have become deep seated, an albatross that has left the Country with narratives of deforming impacts, which have transcend mere facial strains observed lightly.
The impacts of insecurity is such which have troubled the society with turbulent heat, shaking the fabrics of its working framework.
The demands before the Government is largely pressing, as cruelty of terror groups working with flagrant impunity to unleash mayhem on innocent people have become troublesome, and a thorn in the societal fabrics of the Country. Where a group of law-abiding citizens who are gathered in mourning mood of an evil unleashed on their loved one, are still attacked by mischievous elements, this reflects the degree of the flagrant impunity with which the groups have been permitted to operate. The reflections only show cruelty and fiendish disposition of certain groups who are hell bent on terrorising innocent citizens with brazen wickedness.
For the Government to keep the prevailing docility posture to the threats, is irresponsive of its duties, and approximately insensitive to the plight of the masses. Nigerians suffering the blight of insecurity albatross cannot continue under such dehumanising cruelty unleashed on them by mischievous elements, spanning their network across the Country. It is time the Government rose from slumber. Its firmess to arrest the scourge of the mayhem unleashed on the people, is the best response to the troubles of insecurity ravaging the Nigerian society.
