INEC to deploy 5000 bvas for Edo state governorship election

As preparations intensify for the upcoming Edo State elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed plans to deploy over 5,000 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines for the event.

The elections are slated for September 21, 2024.

INEC also emphasized its efforts to ensure a seamless and effective electoral process across the state’s 4,519 polling units and 211 collation centers.

The election will involve 192 ward centers, 18 local government centers, and a state collation center in Benin City.

An INEC official confirmed, “We will be deploying more than 5,000 BVAS devices for the Edo State governorship election.”

In preparation, INEC has scheduled a mock voter accreditation for September 10, 2024, in Edo State to test the BVAS deployment and the electronic result upload process to the INEC Result Viewing portal.

Additionally, the commission has completed the installation and configuration of the BVAS machines that will be used on election day.
