The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday began distribution of sensitive materials for the Imo North senatorial by-election slated for Dec. 5.
INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Imo, Prof. Francis Ezeonu, said this while addressing newsmen during the distribution at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Owerri.
Ezeonu said that all arrangements were on ground for the election and added that INEC staff members and representatives of the different political parties were satisfied with the process.
“It’s a peaceful atmosphere and everyone is satisfied with the process thus far.
“Sensitive materials have been inspected by party agents and election observers and are ready to be moved to the six Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Imo North,” he said.
The REC said that the sensitive materials included smart card readers and result sheets among others.
He urged the electorate not to succumb to intimidation or hijack of the process by hoodlums but to select their desired senator without any fear.
