INEC declares APC’s Sani winner of Kaduna guber election

By: Austine Emmanuel, Kaduna

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC) Senator Uba Sani as the winner of the Saturday’s gubernatorial election held in Kaduna State.

The Returning Officer for Kaduna State guber election, Prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis, of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto declared Sani as winner on Monday haven polled the highest number of 730,002 votes.

The Lawmaker defeated the candidate of opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Isah Ashiru Kudan, who came second with 719,196 while Labour Party’s candidate Jonathan Asake came distant third with 58,283.

Bilbis said, Sani has met the requirements of the law and therefore he is declared as the Governor elect of Kaduna State.

Meanwhile, the PDP gubernatorial coalition agent, Hon. Danjuma Sarki said the result is contrary to the data available to them from the party’s situation room and that of the IREV portal.

He also argued that the margin of lead is less than the number of cancelled votes and so the election should be declared as inconclusive just like the case of Adamawa and some parts of Kaduna State.

However, Prof. Bilbis said the points are not valid, adding that his job is to collate results presented to him by LG officials.

Breakdown of the election are as follows:
