Industrial Court judgement: Senior Staff Association commends CAC Registrar General

The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) has applauded the Registrar General/CEO of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Alhaji Garba Abubakar for complying with the Industrial Court Judgment which ruled that the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) cannot unionize Senior Staff from the rank of a Senior Supervisor and above.

The President General of SSASCGOC, Yunusa Mohammed gave the commendation yesterday while Inaugurating the Association’s Caretaker Committee for the Corporate Affairs Commission held yesterday in Abuja.

Yunusa Mohammed who said that the Association was duly registered with the Federal Ministry of Labour traced its history back to 1978 and added that it believes in the principles of Dialogue, Social Partnerships and Problem Management amongst others.

Speaking on its spread, the President General revealed that it commands large members in organizations such as the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Federal Housing Authority (FHA) amongst others.

He further revealed that SSASGOC in settling labor matters ensures that ideas were brought forward, investment on research, local/foreign training for members and zero tolerance for insults while trying to resolve industrial disputes.

He therefore challenged the caretaker Committee to embark on more membership drive with a view to organizing free and fair elections in the Commission within the shortest possible time.

Responding shortly after taking the oath of office, the Branch Caretaker President, Suleiman Girei thanked the SSASCGOG for finding them worthy to serve and pledged to discharge their responsibilities effectively without fear or favor.

Other members of the Caretaker committee include Umar Tata (Secretary), Ibrahim Tama (Trustee), M.Z. Katsina (Trustee), Mohammed Hafeez (Trustee) and S.A Yola (Treasurer).
