Indigenous syringe manufacturer wins special recognition 2021 award

The Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Company has won the special recognition healthcare excellence award 2021, for manufacturing locally made syringes and contributing to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.

Our Correspondent reports that the award was presented to the company at the Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award 2021, on Sunday, in Lagos.

Established in 2017 and located in Akwa Ibom,  Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing company is Africa’s largest syringe making company, with a daily production capacity of over two million syringes.

The Managing Director of the company, Mr Akin Oyediran said that they had impacted the healthcare sector and lives of Nigerians by consistently providing only high quality syringes.

He described their syringes as safe to use because they undergo an extensive process of quality assurance.

“We have empowered young and mid-level healthcare professionals with over 50 per cent workforce of pharmacists, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

“We also empower other local manufacturers who supply the raw materials for production.

“We produce 2.5 million syringes daily, we have three types of disposable syringes (2ml, 5ml and 10ml) made with state of the art technology and quality medical grade raw materials,” he said.

Oyediran said that they would continue to produce good and high quality syringes as their contribution to the improvement and development of the Nigerian healthcare sector.

“Recently, the Senate passed a bill that healthcare providers should support locally made syringes in Nigeria which made hospitals to accept our products.

“A lot of bad syringes are being imported into the country right now, which is not good for our health system.

“The Federal government wants to ban the importation, the impact of the ban will make Nigeria access quality health devices.

“We are looking forward to that move, because it will help manufacturers to grow, expand and produce good quality syringes made in Nigeria,” he said.
