Immigration monitors sponsors of protest adds them to a watchlist

Kemi Nandap, Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, has announced that the Diaspora sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protests are now on a watchlist.

While she did not disclose any names, Nandap stated that these individuals will be detained upon their arrival in Nigeria. She made this announcement during a meeting with security agency heads and Service Chiefs in Abuja on Tuesday.

Nandap emphasized that any attempt by the watchlisted individuals to enter the country will result in their arrest and subsequent handover to the relevant authorities.

In response to the protests, the Immigration Service has also increased its presence at border entry points, including land borders and airports, to ensure effective monitoring.

Nandap said the Service has also stepped up surveillance to prevent foreign intervention in the country.

The Director-General Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, said the agency has uncovered some sponsors but declined to give further information.

The DG, DSS who was represented by the Service Public Relation Officer, Peter Afunanya, said some accounts have been blocked.

He said some of the persons operating such accounts are staying abroad, adding that they are being monitored
