Immigration arrests 9 illegal emigrants in Jigawa

The Nigerian Immigration Service, Jigawa State office has arrested nine illegal traffickers, eight of which were women and one man, trying to leave for Europe through Niger Republic on Saturday.

The service paraded the suspects at their headquarters in Dutse, maintaining that the illegal emigrants did not possess any travelling document.

The Comptroller in the state, Mr. A.D Bagari who confirmed the arrest, hinted that they intercepted the suspects in Kazaure border to Daura while trying to move out of the country through illegal route.

The suspects were said to be arrested at Tsamiyar Ilu when they attempted to escape at sighting the officers by zooming off their vehicle, resulting in an accident, making some of them to sustain injuries, though minor.

The comptroller said the victims’ ages range from 22 to 37 years old. It was also observed that majority of them hailed from Ondo, Ogun, and Enugu States, adding that they were all incriminated in Kano State through an agent who would take them to Niger border in order to cross to Europe.

He warned people that were still nursing such plans and parents to desist from being used by people to leave their country to another nation illegally.

One of the suspects, Kayede Achidobe, who responded, said that he was not deceived by anybody, that he was on a mission to conduct market survey on garlic and ginger in Niger Republic, only to be arrested by immigration officers.

The comptroller promised to hand over all the suspects to the police for proper investigation.
