The Interim Management Committee (IMC) has insisted that the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Super Six will go ahead as planned this month.
According to the IMC calendar, the regular season is expected to conclude on Sunday, May 14.
There are two matchdays to be completed, but the outstanding matches involving champions Rivers United may force the IMC to adjust the date.
Rivers United, who were knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup by Tanzania’s Young Africans last week, have three outstanding games to be played.
Stanley Eguma’s side also have an outstanding fixture in the Federation Cup.
IMC’s chief operating officer, Davidson Owumi, acknowledged that Rivers United’s fixtures will affect their proposed schedule but remained optimistic that the league could end in May as planned.
“What I am saying is that one group may complete their group matches before the other but all league matches including Super 6 will hold in May according to our calendar,” Owumi stated.
