ILESA Varsity Take-Off: Your ‘kick-and-push’ approach to governance is embarrassing
…Osun APC Slams Adeleke
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has frowned at the unscheduled and fire brigade approach of the embattled Governor Ademola Adeleke to governance.
It would be recalled that Adeleke with the retinue of his flustered kitchen cabinet members rushed to Ilesa yesterday immediately the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Timothy Owoeye, the Acting State Chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal and Engr Remi Omowaiye, the spokesman of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in Osun State, criticised the governor over his scuttling of the take-off of the Ilesa University (IU) and stoppage of work on the Ilesa Water Project.
The Speaker had pleaded with the Ijesa people during a campaign in Ilesa to reject all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the next Saturday’s house of assembly election as the party does not mean well for them.
The state acting chairman of the party and Omowaiye, in the same breath, made an allusion to how the state Governor Adeleke had frustrated the take-off of the university as earlier envisaged by the immediate-past governor of the state, Mr Gboyega Oyetola.
Against commonsense and in sheer resentment to the Ijesa people, even though prominent sons and daughters of the Osomalo land had contributed handsomely to the university’s take-off, Adeleke out of vindictiveness, oppression and victimisation decided to put the take-off of the university on hold for no justifiable reason.
It was learnt that all the candidates who had chosen the institution as their university of first choice had their hope shattered as some of them would have to belatedly change to another university while a sizeable number of them have missed the opportunity to gain a university admission this year.
Commenting on the development, the Acting State APC chairman in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital today, stated that the constant policy somersault of the Adeleke administration is unhealthy for the advancement of the state in all ramifications.
Lawal enquired to know what motivated Adeleke and his talk-then-think adjutants to pander like a classical absurdist and village harlequin desperate to please his audience, in view of the fact that same Adeleke, some months back, thwarted the take-off of the university with his spurious Executive Order.
In the APC’s chairman’s words: “It is absolutely impossible for a person to give what he doesn’t possess. This controversial Osun State governor is either not prepared or capable to shoulder the heavy state administrative job placed on his head.
“I wonder why policy somersault has become the hallmark of the Adeleke administration? How can a governor in a supposedly democratic dispensation dish out policy statements like a military dictator?
“The haphazard manner with which Adeleke reversed his earlier policies on the take-off of the Ilesa University (IU) and the Ilesa Water Project is an indication that he is not sincere as he is out to swindle the populace and obtain their votes under false pretence in the Saturday’s election across the state.
“All the indigenes of Osun State, wherever they may be, must not cease to offer prayer to God Almighty to deliver us from the ‘kick-and-push’ governor whose trademark is a constant policy somersault”, the acting State APC chairman counselled.
Finally, Lawal implored members and supporters of his party, APC, to come out in their numbers to vote in all the candidates of the party in the Saturday’s house of assembly elections across the state.
