IGP lauds NASS, stakeholders over Police Pension Board bill

Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Baba, has commended the National Assembly and other relevant stakeholders for the passage of Police Pension Board Bill.

Baba, in a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday in Abuja, also applauded the passage of Police Training School and Institution (Establishment) Bill.

He described the passage of the bills as a milestone achievement, with positive impact that would redefine the act of policing in Nigeria.

Baba said that the bills would also standardise the training capacity of the force, enhance police productivity and address the recurring pension-related hardship.

According to him, the removal of the Nigeria Police Force from the Contributory Pension Scheme and establishment of Police Pension Board will be resourceful in addressing the plight of police retirees.

He hailed the resilience of members of the national assembly in ensuring the passage of the two critical bills.

The police boss also commended the efforts of some prominent Nigerians in supporting the bills, assuring that they would be assented to by the president.

He lauded the police retirees for their patience and steadfastness in the struggle to actualise the passage of the bills.
