…Urges all to embrace cultural values
The year 2021 Iganmode festival has come with many innovations that would further enhance the economic standards of Ogun state. The festival is themed, ‘Culture: Module for sustainable Leadership.’
The Olota of Ota, HRM Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, Lanlege Ekun ||, in his words describes the festival as a unique one to foster developments for the citizens, residents and the state at large.
He also canvassed for more government participation, “We want government to support and cover Iganmode festival in their annual budgets as it’s done for other state festivals like Ojude-Oba,Oronna festival, Odun Omo- Olowu, etc.
“The government should see the importance of the festival as a means to improve communal peace and economics endowment. Going by the amount of support recieved so far, we have seen our sons and daughters home and abroad sending funds, most surprising are token of at least 1,000 contributions from communities towards success of the festival.
“Though we commend our Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his work so far, however, I use the medium to implore the government to help work on the deplorable status of our roads which have been a major challenge facing people and residents of the town hitherto.”
Aare Dele Bankole, Chairman Planning Committee for 2021 Festival said, “‘Iganmode’ as a legendary hunter of note has been an icon of Ota heritage whose exploits need to be celebrated as time permits,” adding, “it’s a symbol of Ota-Awori leadership influence, hardwork unity and teamwork.”
He charged all citizens to join and support the one week long series of events that would run through December 13th-19th 2021.
According to him, Sequence of events shall be as follows:
Day one, Osugbo prayer session,
Day Two, Youth-day,
Day Three, Cultural day
Day Four, Installation of new chiefs
Day Five, Special Jumat Service at Ota central mosque
Day Six, Grand Finale
While there shall be Thanksgiving Service day at Living Faith Tabernacle (Winners’ chapel).
