Ife Chiefs to resolve issue on changing Wanikin’s name

The Ile-Ife High Chiefs who are the main and major advisers of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye  Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, have put every machinery in motion to resolve the crisis erupting on changing the name of Wanikin in Ile-Ife.

This was stated at the High Chiefs Court in Ooni’s Palace led by Obalufe of Ifeland, Oba Idowu Adediwura and High Chief Adekola Adeyeye today in Ile-Ife.

This settling the issue that arose between Laaroka of Wanikin, Oba ‘Kole Ojutalayo and the peoples of Wanikin at their meeting with the respected Ife High Chiefs.

The peoples of Wanikin led to the palace by Princes Sunday Adewole and Mayowa Adefunso said they were opposed to the change of name from Wanikin to Obamurewa as proposed by Oba ‘Kole Ojutalayo and the proposed declaration of the said areas.

Oba ‘Kole Ojutalayo, who however said, during the visit of Oba Ogunwusi to Wanikin town changed all the towns surroundings Wanikin as Eleja, Okerenbete, Lorilaba, Olowo and Semolu to Obamurewa was disputed by Oba Temitope Elugbemi, Obalaaye of Ife.

However, the Ife High Chiefs said it’s a family affair and it will be settled amicably because of the respect and admiration they have for Oba ‘Kole Ojutalayo.
