IEA to present World Energy Outlook

The International Energy Agency (IEA) is set to present its World Energy Outlook in Paris on Wednesday.

In light of the escalating crisis in the Middle East and the growing geopolitical tensions worldwide, a key focus is the issue of energy security.

Energy security includes oil and gas supply, the electricity sector, critical minerals, but also the increasing threats from extreme weather events.

Another point is the access to energy and its affordability.

Additionally, the IEA’s annual report is expected to address global progress in the transition to greener energy and the achievement of climate goals.

One question is how heatwaves, efficiency measures and the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) reliant on energy-hungry data centres could affect electricity demand.
