ICSS to educate security personnels on deploying technology to combat crime

The Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies (ICSS) has revealed plans to host a one day security summit to educate security personnels on deploying technology to combat crime.

This was disclosed in a statement by the ICSS, Registrar – General, Dr Adekunle Aderemi.

The Institute revealed that the 2024 Democracy Day Edition of the annual National Security Summit of the institute is being held in collaboration with Lagos State University ( Consult ).

The Summit is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 12th June, 2024 at the Lagos State University, Faculty of Education Hall, Ojo, Lagos with the theme, “National Security Agenda: Community Engagement, Law Enforcement and Technology.”

According to Dr Adekunle, the Summit will deliver benefits to participants such as; acquisition of vast knowledge of community policing with community engagement in relations to law and technology, interactive and networking opportunities, summit certification and opportunities to become certified members of the institute amidst others.

The Registrar-General further noted that the event is expected to witness the presence of law enforcement agents; military, police and other paramilitary agencies, academics, members of the diplomatic corps, seasoned experts, veterans, security practitioners and experts from various organizations, community associations, civil society Organizations, youths, students, community policing and engagement advocates, traditional leaders, non – governmental organizations, religious bodies, the general public and other relevant stakeholders in the society.

“The event is also billed to have special features such as ; panel session, showcase of innovative technologies and solutions , membership of ICSS National Anti – Crime Corps and special investiture of distinguished members of the society. The event is to be experienced both in physical and virtual mode via the social media handles of the institute.” He said.
