The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has sealed 62 illegal degree-awarding institutions in Nigeria.
Also shut down fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp.
The Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye made the disclosure on Tuesday at a Youth Dialogue on Corruption in Tertiary Institutions in Abuja.
Represented by Hannatu Mohammed, ICPC Board member in-charge of youth, Owasanoye said the commission had prosecuted the perpetrators.
The chairman stated that no nation will develop beyond the level and quality of its education.
Owasanoye said the ICPC set up anti-corruption vanguards in schools to push the fight against corruption, particularly tertiary institutions.
He said the vanguards equip the student members with the capacity to develop zero tolerance for corruption and to inculcate attitudinal change among their colleagues.
Owasanoye hinted that the ICPC conducted System Study and Review in the university system to identify activities that fueled corruption.
The study discovered bribery, gratification, sexual harassment and sexual inducement, examination malpractices, over invoicing and over-inflation contract values.
