ICDO day: NSCDC begins sensitization on peacebuilding

In commencement of this year International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) week, The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo state command Peace and Conflicts Resolution Unit has begun a sensitization programme around to Ibadan metropolis.

Their objective is to sensitize leaders in all local communities on the need to live together in peace.

While at Shasha, the head of the unit, Deputy Commandant of corps DCC Modupe Olanitori who represented the state commandant CC Iskilu Akinsanya called on Sheriki Shasha Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin to continue to allow peace to reign as it is the only way that could make the economy of the state to flourish, adding that there will be no business or development where there’s a crisis rooted in religion crisis and ethnicity.

Modupe Olanitori who on behalf of the Oyo state Commandant CC Iskilu Akinsanya also visited the Baale of Shasha community, chief Amusa Ajani to sensitize them enjoined them to allow peace to reign in Shasha and Akinyele Local government in general.

The Deputy Commandant also visited all the areas affected during the crisis and the market and encouraged the market traders and residents of Shasha area to see the gesture of the state governor Engr. Seyi Makinde in opening the market as a welcome development which needs to be reciprocated by being law abiding and showing love to fellow citizens.

The sensitization program marks the 90th anniversary of the International Civil Defence organization (ICDO). The theme for this year World Civil Defence Day is “Strong Civil Protection to preserve the national economy.”
